Redrado resists and rejects the request for his resignation from the Central Bank
Cabinet Chief An bal Fern ndez demanded that Central Bank President Martin Redrado "keep his word" and resign his position, while warning that the government "will not back down" in its decision to remove him.
"It is not he who fixes monetary policy, but the President of the Nation," he warned, while saying that when "measures are taken which collide with the decisions of the President, it makes it impossible to go on in this manner."
In an interview with Radio 10, the head of the Cabinet argued that Redrado's attitude is "not serious" and that the official had offered on various occasions his resignation, by which the decision was limited only to "accepting" the termination.
"Redrado had said to the President publicly in repeated occasions that he'd resign at her disposal, and the President has decided to accept it," he said. He also confirmed that Mario Blejer accept to be Redrado's replacement.
