IMF Official: Inadequate Argentina Data Hinder G-20 Work

WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- The fact that Argentina does not have an ongoing "Article IV" economic surveillance relationship with the International Monetary Fund means its data can't be adequately incorporated into global efforts to coordinate policies, a senior IMF official said Saturday.
As a member of the Group of 20 industrialized and developing nations, Argentina is by definition a "systemically important" country, said Nicolas Eyzaguirre, director of the IMF's Western Hemisphere department, and that gives it a special responsibility. He was speaking in answer to questions at a press briefing on the sidelines of the IMF's annual spring meetings.
