Boudou Economics
Today Amado Boudou marks his first year as economy minister and, while there is no lack of critics or points to criticize, he also has much to celebrate. First if not foremost, he deserves praise for being a minister at all for putting a personal stamp on a portfolio which had all but vanished under his breathtakingly obscure predecessor Carlos Fern ndez. The bottom line is growth and in the last year there has been a striking turnaround from stagnation to rapid expansion individuals no more determine the course of economies than of World Cups and the causes of this growth are at least as much global as local but the fact remains that this upturn has happened on his watch.
