Argentina and China to sign $10bn of deals
Financial Times
July 12, 2010
Argentina and China are scheduled to sign trade and investment contracts on Tuesday evening worth around $10bn, according to officials accompanying the Argentine president on a state visit to Beijing.
Roughly 85 per cent of Argentina's purchases of Chinese equipment and goods will be financed by China and the agreements include a number of large contracts to develop the South American country's railway system, the officials said.
President Cristina Fernandez is visiting China in the wake of a flurry of trade disputes between the two countries, which resulted in Beijing changing import rules in late March to virtually shut out Chinese imports of soyoil from Argentina.
