Argentina Government: GDP Seen Growing At Least 5.9% In 2010
The Wall Street Journal
July 14, 2010
BUENOS AIRES (Dow Jones)--Argentina's gross domestic product will expand by at least 5.9% this year, while the government will report a primary surplus of at least 1.4% of GDP this year, the government's top economic officials told Congress on Tuesday.
Deputy Economy Minister Roberto Felletti said during a presentation to a Senate committee that the economy would grow by at least 5.9%, which is well above the original budget forecast of 2.5%.
The government is often accused of underestimating growth in the budget, as it then has more scope to spend the extra revenue associated with higher tax takes.
