Wall Street Journal
August 03, 2010

With Argentine stocks close to record highs, investors took a breather on Tuesday to prepare for the earnings reports due out in the next few weeks and to await more signals about the world economy.

"The local market is reaching certain levels which must be validated either by data from the economy or the earnings reports," said Adrian Mayoral, of the Mayoral Bursatil brokerage.

The main Merval stock market index ended 0.6% lower at 2,440.97 points, while the government's Global bond due 2017 was down 0.3% at ARS380 ($96.5), to yield 10.01%.
