Argentina Central Bank: To Limit Peso Appreciation

The Central Bank of Argentina said Tuesday that it doesn't plan to allow the local currency to appreciate against the U.S. dollar as it seeks to extend the country's economic boom.
"We believe that maintaining a competitive exchange rate, together with the accumulation of reserves, is a priority because it protects labor and national production," said Mercedes Marco del Pont, president of the central bank, in a presentation to a Senate commission.
