Denials over Cristina's purchases in Paris
El Cronista
September 23, 2011
The national government came out yesterday to deny that President Cristina Kirchner had spent US$100,000 on shoes during her last visit to Paris.
The news was published by the U.S. newspaper, the New York Post, and provoked a reaction from the president through her spokesman, Alfredo Scoccimarro, who blasted the report.
"It's a total invention, a total absurdity, I don't know how that could say that. I totally deny that report," said Scoccimarro to reporters at the Casa Rosada. "It's ridiculous, it's ultimately a lie and the President remained in the hotel (George V, where she stayed during her visit to Paris)", explained the official.
According to the New York Post, the President has bought 20 pairs of Christian Louboutin shoes, worth more than US$100,000.
Meanwhile, former prosecutor and House candidate Manuel Garrido (UDESO) announced that he will file a request before the Anti-Corruption Office (OA) to demand that President Cristina Kirchner explain "some confusing aspects of her sworn patrimonial declaration for 2010."
"It's notable that the OA doesn't have this information because she's living on 3,000 pesos a month, so how can the President buy shoes at US$5,500 a pair at Christian Louboutin?", he asked.
