Venezuela to Sell More Argentina Bonds Locally, Universal Says
Bloomberg
July 11, 2008

Venezuela's Finance Ministry plans to start selling $100 million a week in Argentine dollar bonds it holds in its investment portfolio to local financial institutions, El Universal reported.

Out of the total $1.5 billion in Argentine bonds Venezuela has bought since last year, it has already sold $400 million, the Caracas-based newspaper reported, citing unidentified officials at the ministry. A spokesman at the Finance Ministry wasn't available to comment when called by Bloomberg News.

The government is also still planning to carry out a $1.5 billion debt buyback, El Universal reported. The ministry is currently working with lawmakers on the National Assembly's finance committee to secure funding for the repurchase of Venezuelan bonds, the newspaper reported.
