P&O cruises stops visiting Argentina in Falklands face-off

Intimidation by Argentine nationalists has already caused five scheduled cruise stops on the islands by other operators to be scrapped this season, while several planned for next year have also been abandoned.

The ships which have cancelled stops include Holland America's 1,350-passenger MS Veendam, and AIDAcara, a 1,100-berth German liner.

The cancellations came after protesters ransacked the Buenos Aires offices of a travel agency offering cruises last month. Agitators in Ushuaia and other Argentine ports have succeeded in delaying ships suspected of heading to, or returning from, the islands.
